23rd Annual Snake Gully Sale Tops at $6700

23rd Annual Snake Gully Sale Tops at $6700

The 23rd Annual Snake Gully Sale was held on the 13th June at Maungakaramea, Northland (NZ), for the third time on the Roberts Family property at Omana Road.   Natalie presented a very even line of bulls carrying a wide selection of bloodlines and high docility for purchasers to choose from.  This year Snake Gully attracted a large crowd of past buyers (most of whom are now retired) to farewell Dannie & Bethley as they hand the reins over to daughter Natalie and husband David Roberts who will continue to develop the well-established Snake Gully herd for the future.   As usual, loyal commercial and stud buyers competed well for their herd sires resulting in 15 of the 18 bulls being sold during the sale and many registrations transferred to other Studs.

Top Price of $6700 went to Lot 2 Snake Gully Lamar, a black polled son of Auto Dollar General. Lamar’s dam Snake Gully Goddess sired by Snake Gully Expensive has successfully had top price bull in both 2016 and 2017 sales.  The successful repeat buyers were Murray & Kathy Child of Maungakaramea who will use Lamar with their previously purchased Limousin sires over their herd of Angus and Limousin/Angus cows.

Second highest was Lot 4 Snake Gully Levi at $6500 a son of Froghollow X-Man X114 out of a Bolide daughter Snake Gully Jeni.   Levi was purchased by Colin & Jennifer Phillips of Fern Hill Stud in Tuatapere.

Snake Gully Likeabull, a Snake Gully favourite, sired by Wulfs Xtractor X233X out of a Romn Tow Truck daughter Snake Gully Frolic, a New Zealand Elite cow, sold for $5700 to Bruce Shepherd of Kaeo, Northland.

This year saw a larger than usual line of cows and heifers for sale due to the sale of the Maungatapere property.  A total clearance of 15 cows and 5/6 heifers being sold.

Top price cow went to Snake Gully Highlight, a Bolide daughter for $2400 to Murray and Leesa Babe of Maungakaramea.

Top price heifer was Snake Gully Lila a Froghollow X-Man X114 daughter who sold for $3000.00 to Tim Grant of Temoananui Stud in Milton.

Phil & Pauline Gaudin won the Lucky Lot Number draw of Eclipse Pour On sponsored by local Merial representative Stuart Neal.

Our thanks go to all those who attended our Sale and helped to make it an enjoyable and successful occasion.  We value all our clients and aim at providing them with Limousin cattle that they can be proud of and that will promote the breed in New Zealand.
