“No ifs, just butts” – No bull
Limousin / LimFlex Cattle breeders
Richard was introduced to Limousin cattle by the late Ernie Rust of “Greenacres”. He was impressed by the breeds ability to thrive on less than ideal intake, high meat yield / low fat and notable docility.
Limax Enterprises has grown from 2 hectares in the 1990s to 70 hectares, located on the foothills of the Kaimai Range and overlooking the entire North East Waikato basin. Diana joined the team over 10 years ago, and as a couple we aim to produce quality cattle for the local market. We rear both pure and crossbred weaners, coat colours can range from the more traditional apricot / red through to chocolate and black.
Home sires include: Snake Gully Expensive, Pinedale Black Jeremy (ex South Island Bull Trial 2015) and Mangatara Jolly Jumper. Hybrid vigour continues to be an additional interest and apart from the better known “Limflex” Angus cross the farm also runs some Red Devon, Welsh Black and Murray Grey. Limousin genetics have consistently produced excellent calves who carry the traditional F94L muscling gene inherent to the breed.
Since 2014 we have hosted the North Island Bull Trial and sale. This has furthered both our knowledge and appreciation of the breed.
