The concept of the NILB Bull Trial is that breeders send their best bulls to a common environment where the bulls are all treated the same.
Bulls have all arrived:
The yearling bulls will receive the same pasture feed, drenching and handling by the Bull Trial farmer. They are weighed monthly and strictly assessed for docility. Later in the trial there is an independent structural assessment of each bull and scanning.
At the end of the trial, breeders and farmers interested in gaining the best genetics can see the real results of the genetics. Bulls are offered for sale, ready for use in early June 2016. 2015/6 trial has 14 bulls from six breeders. We welcome a new participant, Limax.
The bulls were weighed for the first time last week with an average weight of 433kg. Top weight was 514 Kg.
There is a good variety of genetics on offer, both from AI and home grown sires.
Sale day is set for Tuesday June 7th 2016 at Bucklands Rd, Matamata (near Hobbiton)
